Junior Clinic - 5 hours
Designed to meet the needs of the young novice umpire. The clinic covers umpire signals, using the rulebook, game management techniques, the role of the umpire, umpire responsibilities and the rules.
The Junior umpire receives a Softball Ontario Junior Umpire manual, a clinic certificate and accident and liability insurance coverage.
Intermediate Clinic - 7 hours
Ages 15-18, or an individual under 15 who has taken a Junior clinic
The Intermediate clinic (7 hours) is designed for young officials under 19 to be able to officiate at house league games and to prepare them as they advance in their umpiring career. What a great way for Minor Softball Associations who want to continue training their umpires for their minor divisions and house league games.
Instructional topics covered at this clinic include: game management techniques, the role of the umpire, umpire responsibilities and in depth look at the rules of the game.
The Intermediate umpire receives a Softball Ontario Junior and Intermediate Manual, a clinic certificate, a Softball Canada rule book and accident and liability insurance coverage.
If you have taken an Intermediate clinic in the past three years and are unable or would prefer not to attend one this year, we do provide an Intermediate Take Home exam option which will provide you with all the same benefits listed above. Further information can be found on the application form.
Combined Junior and Intermediate Clinic
Under 19 Years of Age
This clinic is a combo deal of Junior and Intermediate Clinics. This clinic is seven (7) hours in length, for the first five (5) hours of the combined clinic, those registered for the Junior and Intermediate portions would cover the same curriculum. At that time, those registered for the Junior portion would have completed their clinic. The Intermediate umpires would then receive the required two (2) more hours of instruction.
