Softball Ontario Welcomes Steve Camus as Slo-Pitch Provincial Umpire-in-Chief

Softball Ontario is pleased to announce that Steve Camus has been named the new Slo-Pitch Provincial Umpire-in-Chief. Steve has an ambition to further develop and grow the program within the province.

A level 5 WBSC Certified Umpire in Slo-Pitch, Steve brings over 20 years of Umpiring experience to the role. A leader within the program, Steve has 4 years of experience as a ZUIC, 5 as a DZUIC and has been the Golden Horseshoe Umpire Association President since 2014.

Steve has been a leader within the Super Series program, being progressively involved since its inception. With roles including Umpiring, UIC, Event Scheduler and Chair of the Super Series Committee. Most recently, Steve was responsible for scheduling all Super Series, Eliminations and Provincial Slo-Pitch Ontario Events.

“We’re very excited to have Steve join the Slo-Pitch Umpires Committee,” said Christine Parris, Executive Director. “Steve bring a great deal of experience both on and off the diamond and we’re confident that he will continue the growth and development of Umpires across the province.”

Steve has no shortage of experience on the diamond. He’s represented the country at the ISSA Sr. World Cup (2011), ASA C/E Nationals (2012), WBSC Co-Ed Championships (2016), Border Battle – UIC (2018). As well as representing the province at 10 Canadian Championships, as an Umpire, UIC and DUIC. Steve’s leadership, along with his long list of experience, will be a great benefit to the Softball Ontario Umpire Program.
